Not another boring restaurant!
After the first bite of the dumpling, my initial thought was it tastes exactly like a Cantonese dim sum 咸水角 (there is not a proper english translation of the dish). I was wondering if the chef got his inspiration from the dim sum that he once had. This is a very unique twist and addition to a western menu. Be aware that the dumplings could be quite filling.
This is my first time having roasted oysters! The roasting warmed up the shell but the oyster flesh was still raw and fresh, very nice.
The dish is more like a salad, mixing cooked and raw brussel sprouts together with a fried egg. I have never had brussel sprouts this way. Normally you can only get the plain and boring roasted brussel sprouts at other restaurants. Moreover, the plate was beautifully presented.
We added an extra prawn so that we can have two each. The prawns were served with brown butter and capers. They were perfectly cooked.
Honey roast duck crown, it was on the specials menu. My asian taste buds were acting up again. I even joked about having roast duck with a knife and a fork for the first time. The skin of the duck was very crispy. I could hear the crackling sound when I chewed it. However, the skin was quite oily, I guess it resulted from the way they roast the duck. Nevertheless, it is a nice dish.
To sum up the experience: Out of the ordinary!
